The procedure used here is referred to as sclerotherapy. Sclerotherapy involves injecting a sclerosing agent into the spider vein. This solution damages the vein causing it to form a scar and collapse. The blood is then forced to reroute and flow through healthier veins. The collapsed vein is reabsorbed by the body and overtime fades.
