“Kimo” is nationally board-certified as both a Women’s Healthcare Nurse Practitioner (NP) and a Licensed Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist. Her medical career began in 1989 with a BS- Nursing degree from the University of (I love) Vermont. She continues to work as an Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse here at the Pearl Surgicenter. In 1997 she added a Masters Degree from Oregon Health Sciences University School of Nursing. She comes to us from Kaiser Permanente, where she has worked as an OBGYN nurse practitioner for the past 19 years.
Her longtime ambition of adding Traditional Chinese Medicine to her healer’s tool-belt was realized in 2011 when she received her Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, Oregon.
Integrative medicine is increasingly being recognized as essential to effective medicine and improved, sustainable health and healing. Kimo’s unique background in both Eastern and Western medicine serves to strengthen her insight and ability to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions as well as collaborate with other practitioners involved in her patients’ healthcare. Her skills in Traditional Chinese Medicine means our patients have options when it comes to choosing a treatment plan. She welcomes all patients and encourages everyone to actively participate in their healing process.
In her spare time, Kimo cultivates her own health by getting outside into nature, trail-running, hiking, kayaking, exploring the Pacific Northwest with her partner and two dogs, tending to her vegetable gardens, playing music, and grazing her way through the scrumptiously diverse Portland-area cuisine.
