Interstitial Cystitis (IC). IC, also know as painful bladder syndrome, affects more than 700,000 Americans. Women are 10 times more likely than men to suffer from IC. Symptoms include an urgent need to urinate, pressure, tenderness and moderate to intense pain. For more information visit the Interstitial Cystitis Association.
Bladder/Urinary Tract Infections (UTI). Most bladder infections are caused by external bacteria traveling up the urethra. Because the female urethra is short, bacteria can easily enter the bladder. This partially explains why women are so much more likely to develop UTI’s than men. Bladder infections, when diagnosed early, can be easily treated with medication. (more)
